Who can resist the magic of shiny plastic beads?  Also referred to as Carnivale in other parts of the world, this last blast of decadence can be celebrated in many different ways.  Begin by deciding to which city your Mardi Gras party will pay tribute.  Research, and then plan accordingly.  For example, should you host a New Orleans style event, serve Cajun fare and the traditional hurricane.  Other choices include Rio, Cologne and Nice.  You can find our complete party plan for a traditional New Orleans style fete in The Recovering Sorority Girls Guide to a Year's Worth of Perfect Parties.

Check out the Krewe of Carnivale en Rio!  Formed four years ago in Lafayette, Louisiana by a group of Mardi Gras-loving friends, including a fellow Recovering Sorority Girl, Janice LeBlanc and her husband.  Their royal court even boasts two Recovering Sorority Girls!
